The idea of training your dog to be the best guard is considered to be a very important step to make. This is so especially if you happen to live in a neighborhood that is full of insecurity. If you cannot do the training on your own, it is highly advisable for you to hire a professional to do the training for you. However, if you are under a tight budget and you are sure that you cannot afford to hire a professional, then you need to do the training on your own. a)      The first thing that you need to do is to socialize your dog. This means that you need to familiarize her with the surrounding. c)      Teach your dog to bark in case a person approaches the house. There are some dogs that will do this automatically without being taught while others will need to be taught. As such, ensure that your dog knows how to bark especially if a foreign person visits your home.

d)      There are some dogs that have the manners of running after intruders once they have left the house. As such, ensure that you have trained your dog not to do so. This means that you need to teach him or her where the property line ends by walking it around the perimeters of the house.

Dog grooming is an activity that can be quite challenging to most people. In fact, it is one of those activities that make most people view dog keeping as an uphill task.   • Shave the dog’s coat

  • Often take time to clean the dog’s ears

Dogs experience an excessive growth of hair in the ear canal and these must be frequently removed since they trap moisture that may lead to infections, irritations among other complications that may affect the health of the dog. There is a special powder for use in removing the hairs that you can use.

  • Brush the dog regularly

By brushing your dog frequently, you will be able to eliminate dead hair that causes irritation on the skin. When brushing the dog, ensure that you choose the right brush to use in brushing the dog to avoid causing any injuries to the skin. Besides, you should also ensure that the brushing is done along the grain so that the hair looks good.

Connecting With Your Labrador Puppy

In the last article I told you that in order to connect with your labrador puppy you should take him out on long walks in all kinds of different places. I also said some things that you may not agree with, like the fact that dogs are very different from humans in the way they feel. In this article, I want to apply this concept to food. So let’s begin…

The message I want you to get from this is loud and clear: do not feed your dog human food. You probably already know about this from somewhere else, so let’s get a little bit more in depth. What exactly does this mean?

What it means is that you should not feed you lab the food that you usually eat. This includes spicy foods, food with bones in it, etc. So it’s ok to give your dog a steak for example as long as it has no bones and no spices. Many people are getting this wrong and end up feeding their labrador puppies dog food only. Dog food doesn’t always contain all the nutrients a pup needs to grow up nicely. The food that I recommend and many experts recommend is called “Wellness” and it’s known for the fact that it contains the most diverse types of vitamins and minerals and proteins and basically everything that the puppy needs for growth.

This type of food is not very cheap though and it is not available very widely around the world, so you have to come up with a diet where you feed your labrador puppy: meat, vegetables, cereals and plenty of water. Dog food can be included as well, but make sure you read the ingredients list and also look the brand up on the internet to see what people are saying about it.

Now, time for the part where you connect with your dog. You connect with your dog by eating along with him. How do you do this? After you filled his bowl with food, come up close and while he’s eating either move your hand around in his food or lean in and act like you’re eating along with him.

A puppy will usually accept that even if it’s his favorite food and you are taking some of it away from him. But if you don’t take the time to do this while he’s young he will not let you come anywhere near the bowl as an adult. If he starts getting aggressive when you come up close, firmly say no and pull him away from the food and only continue feeding him about 5 minutes later. This is part of the dog accepting you as the pack leader and looking at you with respect and not fear. He has to know that you have the power to give and take, so he will obey.

The Carolina

Otherwise referred to as the American Dingo, the Carolina is one of the oldest natural breed of dogs that you can find. It was discovered and domesticated in the early 1970s. The dog used to live in the wild and in particular in the Pines and Cypress swamps very common in the Southeastern parts of the USA. It is one of America’s primitive dogs and shares similar characteristics with such other primitive wild dogs as Australian Dingos and the Jindo, a Korean natural dog.

A mature Carolina dog can weigh as much as 20 kg and stand at a height of 24 inches. This breed of dog still retains some of its primitive characteristic behaviors. Females in particular sill have the tendency of digging dens in which to give birth and cover the same with sand upon giving birth to protect their young ones. The dog behaves like a fox and employs a pouncing technique when catching its traditional prey, which in most cases happen to be small mammals such as mice and shrews.

A modern Carolina dog is highly efficient as a hunter and is therefore very popular with farmers because of its efficiency in dealing with rodents. Because it is basically a field dog, it is not suitable for keeping as a pet. In any case, it does not get along well with both children and other house pets. This breed of dog has been crossbred with other dog breeds to come up with types of dogs of its type that can be kept as house pets.

The Carolina breed of dog is a hardy dog that can survive in any condition. Because of its hunting instincts, it tends to move away from home into the fields. It is necessary to have proper fencing when kept as an outdoor pet. It is generally a healthy dog with very minimal health challenges.
